Life at Gillionville Plantation revolves around quail hunting, even during the off-season. Each Spring, game management and conservation practices commence anew with crews carrying out controlled burning of the entire property, thinning timber and mowing strips to enhance natural quail habitats. During the summer, hundreds of acres of special feed and cover crops are planted to help nurture Gillionville's abundant wildlife: bobwhite quail, deer, wild turkey, rabbits, boar, duck, dove and much more. This is the time when horses get new shoes... dog trainers work with pointers and setters... mule wagons receive fresh coats of paint. As the quail season nears, work also begins in the plantation lodge. The linens are aired, the silver polished and fires laid. It's time to hunt.
The philosophy of the hunting club is to offer the very best plantation quail shooting available. Once a member chooses his week, this week remains his for as long as he wishes to remain a member. Most members return year after year and keep the same week.
