In 1984 a hunting club was formed which uses the plantation
during the hunting season. Each member is entitled to one week
(5 full shooting days). All accommodations are provided. Members
and their guests typically arrive Monday afternoons and hunt
Tuesday through Saturday, and schedule their departure for late
Saturday afternoon. Two hunting parties depart for the field
each day fully equipped with mule drawn wagons, guest horses,
wagon drivers, head dog handlers and scouts. An intensified game
management program is conducted annually to insure the best bird
population available. Membership dues are based on a group of 8,
but members may bring up to 12 people. |

Members and their guests stay in the main house at the plantation,
which is the personal residence of the owner, Walter G. Thompson,
of Boston, Massachusetts. The main house is a beautiful structure
and was designed by Georgia’s most well known architect, Edward
Vason Jones. The house was built in 1933 on a hill surrounded by
150 year old live oak trees, and was completely restored in 1984.
